Stand up to Autoim­mune Diseases

The GO-Immun devel­op­ment pro­ject com­bines two innov­at­ive tech­no­lo­gies for the treat­ment of Graves’ dis­ease and other autoim­mune disorders.

An innov­at­ive method for gen­er­at­ing anti­body ger­minal cen­ters in cell cul­ture, which can be used to test new drugs without animal testing—that is the focus of the GO-Immun devel­op­ment pro­ject. Ger­minal cen­ters are small struc­tures in immune organs such as lymph nodes and the spleen, where anti­body-pro­du­cing cells mature. Until now, they have only func­tioned in intact organs. As part of the GO-Immun pro­ject, ISAR Bioscience, in col­lab­or­a­tion with Pro­fessor George Kahaly’s team at the Uni­ver­sity Med­ical Cen­ter Mainz, aims to cre­ate such ger­minal cen­ters in the labor­at­ory in order to test novel drugs on them without animal testing.

Another goal of GO-Immun is the pro­duc­tion of so-called Tolero-LNPs. These are RNAs encap­su­lated in lipid nan­o­particles (LNPs). They are key com­pon­ents of a novel thera­peutic approach developed by ISAR Bioscience. The aim is to induce immune tol­er­ance that puts an end to vari­ous types of autoim­mune diseases.
