Stem Cell Lecture 2026
Nobel laureate Brian Kobilka of Stanford University discussed receptor dynamics
On July 2, 2026, the annual lecture organized by the Foundation for Stem Cell Research and ISAR Bioscience took place in the packed lecture hall of the University of Munich’s Gene Center in Planegg-Martinsried. Their collaboration partner, Brian Kobilka, spoke about “The role of protein dynamics in G protein-coupled receptor signaling.” His talk focused on the mobility and the many activation states of receptors. New research from the Chemistry Nobel laureatelaboratory, as well as work at ISAR Bioscience, shows that receptors are not simply “on” or “off.” As highly dynamic proteins, they are instead capable of assuming a wide variety of states. The European research consortium UniSens, coordinated by ISAR Bioscience, is investigating how to measure these states and apply this knowledge to drug development.
