ISAR Bioscience GmbH is a trans­la­tio­nal rese­arch com­pany in Plan­egg near Munich, sup­ported by the Free State of Bava­ria. Our rese­arch focu­ses on (auto-)immune dise­a­ses, dege­ne­ra­tive dise­a­ses of the brain (Alzheimer’s) and heart dise­a­ses (infarc­tion, car­diac fail­ure). We use human indu­ced plu­ri­po­tent stem cell (iPSC) tech­no­lo­gies to deve­lop dise­ase models for the dis­co­very of novel drugs and cell the­ra­pies. In doing so, we enter into stra­te­gic part­ner­ships with rese­arch insti­tu­ti­ons and indus­trial companies.

Post­doc­to­ral Sci­en­tist (gn)

In 2022, Prof. Dr. Martin Lohse (CEO) and Dr. Mar­tha Som­mer (team lea­der) estab­lished the Signal­ling Plat­form to iden­tify novel drug tar­gets and deve­lop bet­ter, more infor­ma­tive drug scree­ning approa­ches. To advance these goals, we recently acqui­red an EIC Path­fin­der Open grant to deve­lop an inno­va­tive bio­sen­sor plat­form for next gene­ra­tion GPCR drug dis­co­very. The 4-year pro­ject is coor­di­na­ted by ISAR Bioscience and invol­ves top sci­en­tists loca­ted in SMEs and aca­de­mic insti­tu­ti­ons throug­hout Europe. The bud­get finan­ces a full-time sci­en­tist posi­tion at ISAR Bioscience, start­ing as soon as 01.12.2023 and las­ting until the end of the project.

Qua­li­fi­ca­ti­ons

Appli­cants should have a PhD and (ide­ally) a few years of post­doc­to­ral expe­ri­ence. A back­ground in expe­ri­men­tal GPCR rese­arch is desi­ra­ble; Inde­pen­dence and strong moti­va­tion are requi­red. The job will require skills in mole­cu­lar bio­logy, pro­tein expression/purification, cell cul­ture, plate-based func­tional assays, micro­scopy, etc., as well as data ana­ly­sis and sci­ence com­mu­ni­ca­tion. Some hours per week in admi­nis­tra­tive tasks rela­ted to the Path­fin­der grant are also fore­seen. Fluency in Eng­lish is requi­red, and a wil­ling­ness to learn Ger­man (if not alre­ady known) is recommended.
