Postdoctoral Scientist (gn)

By

ISAR Bioscience GmbH is a translational research company in Planegg near Munich, supported by the Free State of Bavaria. Our research focuses on (auto-)immune diseases, degenerative diseases of the brain (Alzheimer’s) and heart diseases (infarction, cardiac failure). We use human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technologies to develop disease models for the discovery of novel drugs and cell therapies. In doing so, we enter into strategic partnerships with research institutions and industrial companies.

We have an opening for a

Postdoctoral Scientist (gn)

In 2022, Prof. Dr. Martin Lohse (CEO) and Dr. Martha Sommer (team leader) established the Signalling Platform to identify novel drug targets and develop better, more informative drug screening approaches. To advance these goals, we recently acquired an EIC Pathfinder Open grant to develop an innovative biosensor platform for next generation GPCR drug discovery. The 4-year project is coordinated by ISAR Bioscience and involves top scientists located in SMEs and academic institutions throughout Europe. The budget finances a full-time scientist position at ISAR Bioscience, starting as soon as 01.12.2023 and lasting until the end of the project.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD and (ideally) a few years of postdoctoral experience. A background in experimental GPCR research is desirable; Independence and strong motivation are required. The job will require skills in molecular biology, protein expression/purification, cell culture, plate-based functional assays, microscopy, etc., as well as data analysis and science communication. Some hours per week in administrative tasks related to the Pathfinder grant are also foreseen. Fluency in English is required, and a willingness to learn German (if not already known) is recommended.

Our offer

We offer the special opportunity to help shape the development of a new research company in an interdisciplinary team with pioneering spirit. The postdoc will benefit from ISAR Bioscience’s ‘best of both worlds’ positioning, where academic credentials are advanced while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic biotech company atmosphere. We are a small close-knit company that values lateral thinking and enthusiasm for trying new approaches. Our worldwide collaborative network is substantial and offers many opportunities for professional development. The salary will depend on qualifications and professional experience and is calculated in accordance with the civil service salary scales.
